Dr. Grant Bowbeer

Dr. Grant Bowbeer received his Masters degree in 1969 from the graduate orthodontic program at the University of Michigan. Dr. Bowbeer has been in private practice since then at Ann Arbor Orthodontics. He did conventional orthodontics for 14 years, before he was awakened to functional treatment and superior esthetics by a lecture by Dr. Merle Bean from Des Moines, Iowa in 1983. Over the next 2 years he converted his practice to incorporate functional appliances and started a major research project to determine what proper facial esthetics is. From this research he developed an easy to understand and use facial and cephalometric
analysis.

Dr. Bowbeer has been lecturing since 1985 on facial esthetics, proper orthodontic diagnosis, functional orthodontic, and TMJ treatment. He has lectured at several national meetings of the AAFO and the USDI and to many study groups all over the United States and in several other countries around the world. He is a contributing editor for the publication “The Functional Orthodontist” and he has written a dozen articles on treatment based on facial esthetics and proper TMJ function. His articles demonstrate the subject of his lectures.
