This course will provide the information necessary to diagnose and treat TMD. Appropriate splint design and fabrication will be presented. Treatment guidelines for determining the splint position will also be discussed. The rationale and documentation for these guidelines will be reviewed. Ancillary modalities utilized in the treatment of the TMD pain will be demonstrated – including adjustments to the splints, medications, injections, and physical therapy. Phase II treatment (finishing methods) will also be demonstrated including orthopedic and Orthodontic appliances.

Upon completion of this course the participant will demonstrate the ability to:

1. Select the appropriate splint and set-up the correct position.
2. Identify additional treatment options for TMD pain.
3. Describe finishing techniques for the treatment of TMD.
