T348 – The Diagnosis and Effective Treatment of TMJ Dysfunction
November 7, 2021 @ 8:00 am – 2:30 pm
Instructor: Dr. Grant Bowbeer The major cause of almost all TMJ dysfunction is an over closed vertical dimension causing excess pressure in the TMJ fossae when the teeth are in occlusion. This is usually due to the inadequate eruption of the lower posterior teeth.
This course will examine effective TMJ diagnosis and TMJ treatment protocol. These treatment techniques will allow the rapid relief of TMJ symptoms within 6-8 weeks and usually a permanent relief of the entire TMJ problem within 4 to 12 months.
This method of treating TMJ dysfunction works no matter how long the patient has had a TMJ dysfunction problem or how many previous splints they have had.
Both the Diagnostic and Treatment method will be discussed in detail including determining proper mandibular position, splint construction, and the important patient instructions that must be followed exactly as given!
