D303/1 - Failures
Description
This course is designed to familiarize the student with the intertwining of diagnosis and biomechanical treatment with special emphasis on clinical observation and to show that diagnosis without treatment planning is of academic interest only. Major topics to be covered include a review of Ideal Occlusion as per Andrews' Six Keys to good occlusion, classification of malocclusions, ramification of age, sex, and family history, cephalometrics for the General practitioner, basic principles of treatment philosophy, review of Class II - Division 1 mechanics, detailed review of mechanical principles and a review of practical cases, including failures, why they occur and how to anticipate and avoid them.
